Ultrashort pulse (USP) lasers are a relatively recent development that offer unprecedented capabilities due to their extremely high peak power.  This feature enables USP laser light to process and interact with materials with exceptional precision and virtually no thermal damage.  New applications for USP lasers are emerging in semiconductor processing, medical instrumentation, and nanoscience.  Applied Energetics has built some of the highest performance USP lasers yet delivered.  Our work in militarizing these lasers promises industrial customers access to compact, rugged and efficient USP lasers for their emerging needs.

High voltage supplies, pulse power systems, and electron/ion gun sources have been widely used in industrial, medical, and scientific fields for decades.  They are the workhorses of semiconductor processing, x-ray and magnetic imaging, metal hardening, stack gas scrubbing, material separation, and a host of physical science applications.  Applied Energetics, through its North Star Power Engineering group, has been a leader in the development of high voltage sources since the 1980s, and has a number of innovative and well-proven high voltage products in service to many non-military customers worldwide.
